Teng Weng Pavilion - Thursday

Today has been a great day, so far. Hannah Ruth is taking her nap, so I am jumping on the computer. Today we went to Teng Weng Pavilion. It began as place of entertainment for the Teng dynasty, but developed into a national treasure. One of the poet's wrote a poem about it and it became famous. It was beautiful. In the pictures, you will see that Hannah Ruth was taking her morning nap and now she is taking her afternoon nap. (I think Rick is taking his afternoon nap as well.) The boys are bowling. After siteseeing at the pavilion, we went to "Porcelain Row" and purchased some porcelain. A tea set for Hannah Ruth and one for our family. The prices were very good. Rick even managed to barter a little. Our guide, Mary, said that adoption is the only thing that brings tourists to this province, so they have not yet learned to have tourist prices. We ate lunch at a wonderful restaurant. Since it was outside of the hotel, it was also reasonable. This afternoon we look at some final papers, then tomorrow morning we go get Hannah Ruth's Chinese passport and leave for Guangzhou. Guangzhou is the home of the U.S. consulate that processes adoptions and they have a big business trade fair every year, so they are very used to Americans. In Guangzhou we are looking forward to the Hard Rock Cafe and many of our group are looking forward to Starbucks. That is also where we will buy some smaller items like squeaky shoes, tea, and cheap DVDs.
